Every one of us is striving hard to abolish corruption from our minds and free the shackles for development in India. All those who are closely following this mission has to acknowledge that this can not be realized in a few weeks or months but it will take several years to actually see the fruits for our current efforts. In our journey, so far we have done a lot but unfortunately we do not see any results to rejoice. This is de-motivating a lot of us. I wish to take a few minutes to explain what we achieved so far.

All long journeys also start with a first step. That is what we have done during the last year. During the early days we discussed about what each one of us thinks about corruption. I still remember the days when we all blamed Govt. officials and politicians for all the corruption prevailing in our country. After through analysis we did find out that each one of us is equally nurturing and promoting corruption. This is a significant outcome of the first phase of our mission. We are closely observing and conscious about all our activities contributing to corruption. Today we are in a better shape to understand what we are doing and why we are doing things to promote corruption.

Our contributions to corruption might be quite small. But we know the long term consequences of our petty activities towards corruption. We did realize that in this process, we are corrupting our brains by making ourselves believe that all our actions towards corruption are minor and will not harm anyone (which is not true). The main reasons for our mean actions are lack of time because the righteous process is cumbersome and we are scared of future consequences that we might face if we do not bribe.

But are we really scared to face the reality? You guys are very energetic, smart and well educated. You can always find solutions to any given problem. You do not have to be corrupted to realize your dreams. What we have done so far is to realize that any act towards corruption is a crime. Right now, we might not be in a position to completely stop corruption. But we will make steady progress.

We made our first move, let’s get going …This success belongs to each one of us

A guy of my age should never complain. Because we (my contemporaries) are the most energetic and dynamic persons and we are here to act and not to just blame for the wrong doings of others. We can realize everything that we dream of. Eradicating corruption might seem impossible but we never fear about imagining the impossible tasks. No matter what happens to me, I am here to make things possible. I am going to fight against the big muscled corruption. It might torture me and even end up taking my life but believe me I will not submit or compromise to this evil practice. I will take the inspiration from the holy life of late Satyendra k. Dubey. I will act as a torch bearer to his vision and carry his mission to the next generation. Raise your voice against corruption. Say NO to corruption.

I don't think corruption is something new or unfamiliar to anyone. Everyone is responsible for this evil element in this world. We have all equally contributed to keep it always live and omnipresent. We have long back accepted corruption in our homes. We treat it like any of our family member. Its no more evil. Even if someone reports about corruption charges against any individual, people do not care because its just common.

Everyone wanted to eradicate corruption and make India a better place on earth. But how can we do that? Do we have enough time to fight against this evil? Can we sacrifice our livelihood and fight for our country? The answer from my side is a big 'NO'.

I have an idea which can fulfill my dream. This idea doesn't demand a playcard protest or a muscular war against the strong politicians. You don't have to leave your 50K euro job. You can be the same old selfish person as I am today. You don’t have to spend even a second for the welfare of our country. The idea is quite simple. Do not promote corruption from your side. For instance, if you happen to apply for a passport, and the officer promises a faster process for a bribe of Rs.5000, do not go for it. Always follow the legal path. If the officer tries to trouble you, there are many ways of protesting by just sitting at home. For instance you can lodge a complaint at public grievances (http://pgportal.gov.in/). If this doesn't work, you can question the authorities and can get your work done using the right to information act (RTI, http://righttoinformation.gov.in/). There are many other ways to solve the problem in the right way. What ever you do, make sure you are on the right track. Do not forget that there is no wrong way to do something good.

What if someone does evil deeds before u?

If the concerned person happens to be ignorant, educate him. If his muscles scare u, do not go against him. But when ever you happen to talk about him, do not make him a hero of his muscles or his boldness. Always remember that he is evil and I do believe that evil should always be killed. Consider him as dead, which no social being can accept.

Lets introduce a new discrimination in this society. There are a number of reasons to discriminate different people. But all these reasons like white/black, rich/poor, male/female etc. are pretty outdated concepts. I am pretty bored following them since my childhood. Why don’t we introduce a new cause for discrimination? Lets differentiate the corrupted evil doers from the righteous men. If everyone practices this idea, then we have to plan a holiday in Europe or America to visit 'Corruption'.

I am practicing this idea since two years. I have already started a secret battle against corruption from my side. So when r u going 2 join me?

Please stay connected and raise your voice against corruption.

Most of the evil deeds in the society are in someway or the other related to corruption. In 27 years of my living, I have contributed enough to keep it alive. For me bribing is no big offense. There are many more dangerous things to complain about. But actually corruption is the root cause of evil in the society. Even after so much economic development (trillion economy) and numerous welfare activities from the governments, why can’t 1 out of 5 Indians spend Rs 12 a day? How could foreign terrorists create so much carnage in Mumbai? Why are common men out of reach of security and justice? The reason for all this is corruption. Although corruption was a small plant some 50-60 years ago, but today it is a well developed tree with roots firmly dug under the earth. It’s not so easy to unearth it but it’s not impossible. We need a simple and easily practicable strategy to eliminate this practice right from the roots.

Let me give you an example to illustrate why eradicating corruption is still a possible task. I have been living in Germany for the past five years. I never tried to corrupt any official; truly speaking I never had an idea to corrupt anybody. Once I was traveling to India with an overweight baggage. I was asked to pay for the overweight. Suddenly I realized that my goods weren’t so important, so I dumped some of my stuff. Don’t ask me why I was carrying the unwanted stuff? Everything went fine with the rest of my journey. On my way back to Germany, I had a similar situation at Chennai airport. I didn’t know what to dump, for because I was carrying all important stuff (pickles, sweets etc.). In situations like these, I don’t even look for the options; my dearest Big brother, corruption takes guard and comes to my rescue. He settles matters quite easily. Now you might have understood why I like him the most. No matter what might be his other facets, he helps me and so I need to raise him. He is very powerful and can make anything happen. As far as I remember, the problem was solved by bribing the officer a couple of hundreds (≤ 5€). I would have spent even a hundred euro to get my things done. One day when I was analyzing the whole incident, I found myself having a split personality. I have two different solutions to the same problem. Even though, I had a strong bond with my brother for almost 20 years, I never took his assistance even in critical situations during my stay in Germany. Things did happen in his absence. On the other hand, after my 5 years life in the absence of my big brother, I look forward for his help even for minor problems during my stay in India. I know that my brother is omnipresent and I can approach him at any time. I faced many tough situations in Germany but I never approached my big brother for help. I can’t give you the exact reason why I am behaving differently in my home country. I know that things can be done even without corruption. May be I am in a hurry to get my things done quickly but in a similar situation in Germany, I do have patience to wait. I can’t say that corruption is no evil to me, because if that the case, I would have also practiced it in Germany.

The reason for all these indifferent reactions to situations is all because of ignorance. We think bribing a couple of hundred rupees does no serious harm to anyone. But this habit epidemically spreads to all our actions. People watching you from close corners take the success of these dealings and try to ape you in similar situations. Since somebody try to take money from you to do you a favor, you try to take money from others when somebody needs your help. Finally nobody does his duty without a bribe and does anything for a bribe. A police officer and a lawyer protects a culprit because he offers a better deal, an engineer makes better profits by deteriorating the construction projects, doctors perform major operations even for minor aches, military personals allow terrorists to cross the national border for a few bucks and so on… But if you remember, all these evil deeds started from very small bribes. These small bribes have also flourished with our economic development and today these are completely out of reach of common people. Rich, middle and poor peoples have equally contributed to this evil custom. Recession has no impact on this. Sometimes, when I read the news that so and so politician is involved in a multi crore scandals, I get furious and devote all the bad words to him. But I never scold myself for offering bribes to get my favors done. Fortunately I am not in the public sector; otherwise I would at some stage have accepted bribes.

After all these analysis and awareness of the ill effects of corruption, I realized that now is the time to stop this culture inch by inch. I know it’s quite difficult to stop it. It’s like sacrificing a family member. Since things can be done without corruption, it’s easy to believe that monstrous structured corruption culture can be abolished.

After many years of my stay in Germany, I am finally packing my things to go home. I was thinking what best fits in my baggage. Besides my two academic degrees I attained in one of the most prestigious university, I wish to take some thing more special than this. Is there anything so special to take home? All these years, I greatly missed my sibling, the corruption. But still I was able to survive. I haven’t seen him or his shadow anywhere. On web some German’s say they have seen him but mostly he is a distinct partner. But in India, he is my dearest sibling. I live with him every moment. Though I know, he is wicked and extremely bad. I still try to make him strong by helping him in all possible ways. I love him a lot. I never wanted to lose him. Every year when I visit India, I am so excited to see him. I miss him dearly. But even with so much affection, I never dared to bring him with me to Germany. Truly speaking, I never thought of such an idea. May be I don’t need him here. If I don’t need him here even during my long stay, then why do I need him during my short stay in India. I don’t know.

I am taking this special experience of mine back home. I have learnt that I can live without corruption. I am much happier and the society is better without corruption. So I will stay away from this evil act for the rest of my life. Is this not a worthy gift from Germany?

The Mission

Most of us dream of having a corrupt free society. But even with such ambition, when situation demands, we behave normally and offer bribes. We complain about our politician’s scandalous administration but never complain about our own bribery deeds. The reason for this is that the bribes that we offer are only a couple of hundreds and we do believe that this is the normal procedure and does no harm to the society. We never consider it as a bribe because such things are common these days. Words like bribe, corruption are reserved for illegal dealings worth several thousand crores. Bribes, big or small are very dangerous because corruption has multi-facets. It not only hinders socio-economic development but also deteriorates law and order. Mafia, terrorist organisation etc. are the by-products of corruption. Offering bribes can get your job done quickly. This success encourages you and your neighbours to practice it in all situations. This is the reason why corruption has many patrons. In the progress this becomes a culture. These bad habits will not die with you but will be passed on to your next generation. How do we get rid of this evil culture?

I know that it is very difficult to stop corruption from our side all of a sudden. Let’s do it gradually. Let’s not consider it as a job but as a fundamental duty. In our daily life if a situation demands you to offer bribe, go ahead. But before you make the transaction, just recite these words, SAY NO TO CORRUPTION slowly and clearly. Later go ahead with your deal. But don’t forget to say these words whenever you make an illegal transaction. The first couple of recitation might come directly from your mouth but later it comes from the bottom of your heart. Then you start realizing that you are doing something wrong. No human being can do evil by knowing it is evil. Some people might do it the first …second …….third and believe me there will never be a fourth trial because every human has a strong personality and character. These qualities will not allow us to do these illegal activities. Everybody knows that there is no wrong way to do something good.

Isn’t this easy to practice? As an NRI from Germany, I haven’t come across corruption so much. But it used to be a regular scenario for me at the airport to spend a few euro (bribe) to carry extra expensive goods. I used to do because a few euro doesn’t matter to me. But after realizing the side effects, I practiced the above ideology. Personally, I did this recitation and it took me nearly 50 recitations to realize that I am doing something wrong. I could not offer bribes after this self realization. Now I completely stopped corruption from my side. My life is very pleasant and I am very happy. It’s nice to have my good personality and clean character back. Currently I am trying to educate my neighbours about the evil effects of corruption and promoting my ideology to help others get back their lost pride.

Practice this ideology and make a valuable contribution to your society. Let’s make this world a better place to live.
