The Mission

Most of us dream of having a corrupt free society. But even with such ambition, when situation demands, we behave normally and offer bribes. We complain about our politician’s scandalous administration but never complain about our own bribery deeds. The reason for this is that the bribes that we offer are only a couple of hundreds and we do believe that this is the normal procedure and does no harm to the society. We never consider it as a bribe because such things are common these days. Words like bribe, corruption are reserved for illegal dealings worth several thousand crores. Bribes, big or small are very dangerous because corruption has multi-facets. It not only hinders socio-economic development but also deteriorates law and order. Mafia, terrorist organisation etc. are the by-products of corruption. Offering bribes can get your job done quickly. This success encourages you and your neighbours to practice it in all situations. This is the reason why corruption has many patrons. In the progress this becomes a culture. These bad habits will not die with you but will be passed on to your next generation. How do we get rid of this evil culture?

I know that it is very difficult to stop corruption from our side all of a sudden. Let’s do it gradually. Let’s not consider it as a job but as a fundamental duty. In our daily life if a situation demands you to offer bribe, go ahead. But before you make the transaction, just recite these words, SAY NO TO CORRUPTION slowly and clearly. Later go ahead with your deal. But don’t forget to say these words whenever you make an illegal transaction. The first couple of recitation might come directly from your mouth but later it comes from the bottom of your heart. Then you start realizing that you are doing something wrong. No human being can do evil by knowing it is evil. Some people might do it the first …second …….third and believe me there will never be a fourth trial because every human has a strong personality and character. These qualities will not allow us to do these illegal activities. Everybody knows that there is no wrong way to do something good.

Isn’t this easy to practice? As an NRI from Germany, I haven’t come across corruption so much. But it used to be a regular scenario for me at the airport to spend a few euro (bribe) to carry extra expensive goods. I used to do because a few euro doesn’t matter to me. But after realizing the side effects, I practiced the above ideology. Personally, I did this recitation and it took me nearly 50 recitations to realize that I am doing something wrong. I could not offer bribes after this self realization. Now I completely stopped corruption from my side. My life is very pleasant and I am very happy. It’s nice to have my good personality and clean character back. Currently I am trying to educate my neighbours about the evil effects of corruption and promoting my ideology to help others get back their lost pride.

Practice this ideology and make a valuable contribution to your society. Let’s make this world a better place to live.

" Corruption in a civilised society is like cancer, which if not detected in time is sure to malignise the polity of the country leading to disastrous consequences. It is termed as a plague which is not only contagious but if not controlled spreads like a fire in a jungle. Its virus is compared with HIV leading to AIDS, being incurable. It has also been termed as royal thievery. The socio-political system exposed to such a dreaded communicable disease is likely to crumble under its own weight. Corruption is opposed to democracy and social order, being not only anti-people, but also aimed and targeted at them. It affects the economy and destroys the cultural heritage".
